ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ly Tran
I am a Vietnamese-American artist based in Maryland, USA.
Born and raised in Hanoi, Vietnam, I studied Art and Design in Moscow, Russia, before eventually building my life in the United States. My journey across cultures, languages, and continents has shaped a perspective that bridges Eastern sensibility, European training, and contemporary life in America.
After nearly a decade in business, I made the decision in 2020 to return fully to painting. Since then, art has become not only my profession, but also a way of exploring identity, memory, and the connections that shape our lives.
Over the past six years, I have created nearly 200 works and exhibited internationally in the United States, Austria, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Taiwan. My paintings are held in private collections across North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. In 2023, I received the Best Artwork Award at the BON VOYAGE Freedom & Love International Art Exhibition in Indonesia, selected by Dr. Oei Hong Djien, founder of the OHD Museum.
Through years of exploration, I recently arrived at what I call Organic Cubist Abstraction — an evolving visual language that combines cubist structure, biomorphic forms, and rhythmic color. Through this approach, I transform emotions, memories, and observations into interconnected compositions that explore the vitality of life, the relationship between humanity and nature, and the unseen connections that bind them together. I believe that everything in life exists through connection. My hope is that these visual connections may resonate with your own experiences and awaken a sense of recognition, reflection, or wonder.
